The Epidemiology internship is designed to help you apply what you’ve learned in the classroom to real‑world public health data and investigative work, while building the analytical skills and confidence you’ll need as an entry‑level epidemiology professional. This experience offers a meaningful opportunity to understand how epidemiologic practice functions on a day‑to‑day basis and to begin developing your own professional identity in the field.
To support these goals, your internship must take place at an agency that provides authentic, supervised epidemiologic work. You should be actively involved in tasks such as collecting, managing, analyzing, or interpreting data; contributing to surveillance or investigative activities; and supporting projects that inform public health decision‑making. You will also be engaged in the daily operations of the organization, including meetings, trainings, workshops, or related events. As part of your experience, you are expected to focus on at least two epidemiology‑related competencies.
