The Safety Management internship (field experience) is designed to provide students with practical, hands-on experience across multiple areas of safety management while supporting the development of each student’s personal and professional safety philosophy.
This internship is a critical component of the educational process, allowing students to apply theories and knowledge gained in the classroom to real-world safety challenges. Through supervised, professional experiences, students gain insight into how safety programs are planned, implemented, evaluated, and managed within organizations. The internship helps students "pull it all together" by connecting academic preparation to professional practice.
Internships must be approved by the faculty internship coordinator prior to the start of the experience. Approval is based on safety coursework completed, previous work experience, and academic standing.
